What is National Skipping Day?

National Skipping Day is an initiative designed to encourage children to stay active, develop coordination, and build confidence through skipping. With nearly 200 schools already registered and 50,000 children and teachers taking part, this event is growing every year!

It’s an opportunity for schools to come together and enjoy a day dedicated to movement, teamwork, and learning new skipping tricks. Whether it’s through individual or house team challenges, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

How to Get Involved

If your school hasn’t signed up yet, there’s still time! Here’s how you can take part in National Skipping Day:

  1. Sign Up: Register your school with Skipping Workshops and join thousands of other participants here.

  2. Receive a Free In-House Competition Guide: Schools will receive a fun competition format to run at their own pace.

  3. Compete for the Galley Cup: Submit your scores and see if your school can take home the prestigious Galley Cup!

  4. Earn Certificates and Medals: Every student who participates can download a certificate, and we’re giving away hundreds of medals to outstanding skippers.

  5. Share Your Experience: We’d love to see your skipping in action! Share photos and videos with us and celebrate the day with your community.

The In-House Skipping Competition

Schools taking part in National Skipping Day can also join our In-House Skipping Competition to make the event even more exciting! This competition is a great way to challenge students, boost motivation, and celebrate skipping skills.

How It Works:

  • Students will take part in a variety of skipping challenges, including Long Rope Jumps, Cross Overs, Pretzels, and Double Unders.

  • Points are awarded for each correctly performed skill. For example:

    • Beginners - Long Rope Jumps = 1 point per jump

    • Up to Advanced - Double Unders = 20 points per jump

  • Teachers or skipping experts can be assigned as judges to score each skill.

  • Certificates are available for all participants, and medals will be awarded to the top scorers in each level.

  • Schools can submit their Top 10 Scores to see if they can claim the prestigious Galley Cup!

The competition runs until the first week of July 2025, so keep practicing and send in your results!
